Mike Pauly, Newcastle to Hobart

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

Where Mike pitched the tent last night at Cabbage Tree Creek he asked a guy who was passing if it was OK to camp there and he was told yes.

Mike explained about his relationship with Mens Sheds and was told he was camped opposite the local Mens Shed President’s home.

Well there is a good excuse for a cuppa and a chat which is exactly what took place. Mike enjoyed the company of Ken and Glenis for quite a while.

Mike got an early start, about 4:15 am heading to Orbost.

Reasonably uneventful except for the rain, it just won’t let up.

About 5 km from Orbost Mike had a problem with one wheel, and with the cold and wet he had a problem changing to his spare.

Garry Riordan, who seems to be the Coordinator for the Orbost Mens Shed contacted Mike and invited him to spend the night at the Shed.

Apparently the Shed is within the grounds of the Orbost Regional Health Facility

This will allow Mike to let some things dry out and to do some washing-again.

Next major town is Lakes Entrance a very popular tourist spot, with only a couple of small towns in between.
